One of the World's best-known resorts and golf courses, Mauna Lani (as it is commonly known) offers two spectacular and dramatic golf courses routed through a recent lava flow on the Kohala coast of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Mauna Lani was the birthplace of the internationally televised Senior Skins Game and its home for 11 years. Both courses have won numerous awards from Golf Magazine and Conde Naste Traveler for their design and superb conditioning and service.

The North Course was designed to be the more challenging of the two with the South Course being the more "resort" style course. The 15th on the South Course is one of the most photographed holes in the world.

This course was the first truly "lava" golf course. All aspects of the golf courses were built on solid "pahoehoe" or "a'a" lava, both formations that were devoid of any topsoil, which was imported from other locations of the island. Construction of lake basins and irrigation trenches in many areas needed to be blasted with dynamite. Irrigation water is piped down from Kohala Mountain and is extremely brackish. Mauna Lani boasts some of the best Paspalum greens in the Pacific.
