Nakoma is the focus of a 480 acre residential and resort development in the Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California. It features 6 different tees for each hole due to the 5000-foot elevation. As a testament to that, Nakoma, formerly called The Dragon at Gold Mountain, was selected as one of the "Top Four Courses for Women in the USA" by Women's Golf Magazine as well as sloping at 147 from the "6 Dragon Tees", tying it with Spyglass Hill as the toughest in Northern California. Also complementing Nakoma is the Frank Lloyd Wright designed clubhouse that is a feature of the resort.
