WETLANDS GOLF ON A WINDSWEPT SITE
Like many sites in Jiangsu province, the seaside site for Xiao Yang Kou was very flat, windswept and devoid of any real landscape features. Other issues/problems with the site included saline groundwater and very poor soil quality.
N&H transformed the site, introducing wetlands as a means of filtering the groundwater and draining the site. These wetlands quickly established themselves and now provide a vital habitat for many native and migrating birds.
The golf course is of a "rough" links style and is exposed to the strong coastal trade winds of the area. It's not an easy course, but wider than normal fairways coupled with relatively benign greens means it is playable for most - even if good scores are a rarity.
